Clear valuations for insurance, inheritance, or loss<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Do you need an official appraisal report, or are you simply curious about the value of your jewelry? As a certified appraiser, I offer both written and verbal valuations, tailored to your specific needs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What is the purpose of the appraisal?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The valuation method depends on the purpose of the appraisal. The three most common situations are:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  1. For insurance coverage<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  2. For inheritance or estate division<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n
  3. For damage or loss assessment (expertise report)<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n

    Insurance Appraisal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

    If you own an unique piece of jewelry, a valuable watch, or a large collection, your insurance provider may require an official appraisal report. I will prepare a report that meets the standards of most insurance companies. In case of theft, fire, or other loss, the report serves as proof of ownership and value.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

    • Valuations are based on replacement value<\/strong> (new retail price).<\/li>\n\n\n\n
    • For antique or vintage pieces, I assess the cost to replace the item at a reputable antique jeweler or auctionhouse<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Tip:<\/strong> Insurance reports are typically valid for two years<\/strong>, due to fluctuating gold and silver prices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Appraisal for inheritance or estate division<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

      In the case of inheritance or divorce, a fair division of jewelry and watches often requires a professional appraisal. I prepare a neutral and objective report based on the current market (liquidation) value<\/strong> \u2014 the estimated price in a direct sale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      • The report provides a clear basis for dividing assets among heirs or deciding on potential sale.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • I can also assist in preparing items for auction or act as an intermediary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

        Tip:<\/strong> Even unwanted or unworn pieces can often be sold at auction with excellent results.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        Damage or loss assessment report (Expertise Report)<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

        Have you lost jewelry or watches but never had an appraisal report? A post-loss assessment report<\/strong> may help for insurance or documentation purposes. However, this type of report requires significant input from your side:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

        • Collect old receipts, invoices, certificates, or photos where you\u2019re wearing the items.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
        • Based on this material and your descriptions, I will estimate the original value.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

          Please note: these reports are complex and assessed case by case.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Verbal appraisal<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          If you would like to know the value of your jewelry but don\u2019t need an official report, I also offer verbal appraisals<\/strong>. During a personal consultation, I will carefully examine your items and give you an immediate estimate. You\u2019re welcome to take notes during the session.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          Tip:<\/strong> I can also advise you on where to sell your pieces or connect you with an auction house. If needed, I can mediate on your behalf.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          What does the appraisal report include?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

          A full appraisal report includes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

          • A detailed description of each piece<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Materials, techniques, size, weight, and any hallmarks, maker\u2019s marks<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Gemstone analysis: measurements, carat weight, natural or synthetic, and any treatments<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Style and period<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Notes on condition, repairs or alterations<\/li>\n\n\n\n
          • Clear photographs of each item<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n

            You will receive the report in duplicate: one for your own records, and one for use with third parties (such as insurers or notaries).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

            How it works<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

            • You can visit me by appointment (possible during weekends or in the evening), or I can come to you with my gemological equipment.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • For loss\/damage cases, please collect as much supporting documentation as possible.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
            • Please note:<\/strong> I do not provide written appraisals based on photographs alone \u2014 a physical examination is essential.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n
